Why Choose Enduro Headset Bearings

Headset bearings are one of the most important parts of your bike, but they’re also one of the most neglected. If you’ve ever wondered which set of bearings to buy and why, here’s all you need to know.

Tapered vs. Cotterless: The first thing you’ll notice when looking at enduro headset bearings is that there are two different types. Tapered bearings are the older model, but cotterless are now the standard. A tapered bearing consists of an inner cup that is pressed over a spindle and held in place with a cone-shaped cap. The cotterless system uses a ball guide that has been pressed into the frame and held in place by a lockring. This allows for more accurate alignment.

Hard vs. Soft: A soft race is used for downhill bikes or bikes where weight is a concern. It can be made from either steel or aluminum; steel is heavier and less expensive, while aluminum is lighter but more expensive. A hard race is also called an “enduro” race because it’s designed to work under extreme conditions, such as dirt jumping or downhill racing. Hard races are generally made of titanium or chromoly steel but can also be found in other materials including aluminum, plastic and copper.

Enduro Bearings is a premium supplier of bearings from worldwide manufacturers. Since 2002, Enduro has been committed to providing the highest quality bearing products with the most innovative features and specifications. Enduro uses only the best materials and manufacturing processes available to produce the highest quality bearings available anywhere. Quality

Enduro Bearings’ lineage goes back four generations to a bearing manufacturer founded in 1918. Our extensive knowledge of bearing steel and heat treatment has allowed us to develop one of the industries most comprehensive lines of precision seals. This makes Enduro Bearings uniquely qualified to produce the highest quality bearing components available.

Innovation

Enduro’s commitment to innovation is demonstrated by our patented Max type bearings in our MX bearings line. These revolutionary hybrid ceramic bearings use external metal races with full ceramic ball sets for optimal weight savings and performance. For example, our Max type Angular Contact/Max type Cartridge Bearing is just 7 grams but offers tremendous stiffness for its size. This allows for new creative design options for headset manufacturers unlike any other bearing on the market today.
